Every two to three years, UTB offers students a chance to study music in Vienna, Austria, arguably the most musical city on the planet. While there, students learn about the music and lives of the important composers who called Vienna their home, visit places where they lived and worked, learn about the culture that produced such momentous music, and hear concerts and operas from some of the greatest institutions and venues in the world.

During the program, students take private tours through the world-famous Vienna State Opera House as well as the equally famous Musikverein concert hall. Other tours that students have taken in the past include the Hofburg and Schönbrunn palaces of the Austrian emperors, the Kunsthistorisches (Art History) Museum and the Collection of Musical Instruments, one of the world’s most important collections. UTB students have also toured through homes and apartments once occupied by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms. Finally, students always want to pay their respects to these great musicians and composers at their gravesites at Vienna’s Central Cemetery.
