Vision
The vision of the Assistant Dean for Lifelong Learning and Special Programs is to promote the idea that one can and should explore new ideas and skills. With an increasing emphasis on individuals being flexible and adaptable, education from kindergarten to high school is no longer an ends to a productive life in today’s society. Individuals need to continuously improve and update their knowledge and skills for the economic and social survival of both the individual and the organization.
Mission
The office will work collaboratively with local businesses, community leaders, institutions of higher education, and school districts to design a system of learning which provides every citizen with many routes to learning opportunities including multiple levels and forms of education and training.
Goals
- Assist in aligning K12 standards with college readiness standards.
- Assist in promoting quality and effective teacher preparation programs.
- Support the local school district’s efforts in curriculum continuity and facilitate instructional transition between educational systems (Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, and Post-Secondary).
- Promote collaborative research in instructional delivery methods in all educational levels, with a focus in Early Childhood.
- Provide oversight on College of Education special programs.
