UTB/TSC Counselors Receive Back to Back Awards
Dr. Selma D. Yznaga, associate professor for school specialties and coordinator of the Community Counseling Clinic at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, received the Counselor Educator of the Year award given by the Texas Counseling Association in November in Houston.
Judy Powell to speak at faculty seminar
On November 20, we are having a faculty seminar and our featured speaker is Ms. Judy Powell. She is Chair of the State Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors. She will be speaking on Ethics in the Counseling Profession. That will be on Thursday night and students and community are invited. Since Ms. Powell also is involved with the Board’s subcommittee on grievance/discipline.
Raul Guerra Early Childhood Center recognized as a Texas School Ready Site

The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College’s School of Education will announce at a press conference on Thursday, Oct. 11 that it has received a $2.2 million five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education to produce 90 new teachers in the next four years.
