Dr. Yznaga Selected as Counselor Educator of the year.

Our colleague Dr. Selma de Leon-Yznaga has been selected as the Counselor Educator of the Year by the Texas School Counselor Association for 2008. She was selected from counselor educators across the State for her dedication and contribution to the counseling profession. She will be recognized and honored at the next Texas Counseling Association’s Annual Conference in Houston.

Dr. Yznaga is an associate professor in our School of Education (SOE), Department of School Specialties. Also, she is the clinic coordinator of SOE Community Counseling Clinic whose mission is to promote and enhance the quality of life for the members of the community and to provide professional training for graduate students. Her research concentration areas are immigration trauma, school-wide discipline management in border schools and Mexican folk healing in the clinical setting.
