Mission Statement
The mission of the Office of P–16 Initiatives is to develop a partnership with local businesses, school districts and The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College to address educational needs and influence educational expectations for students of South Texas.

Goals for the Office of P – 16 are to:

align standards for high school graduation with college entrance requirements

mobilize resources with respect to teacher preparation

increase the quality and effectiveness of all educator preparation programs

strengthen the curriculum continuity and facilitate instructional transition

promote collaborative research

provide a comprehensive and continuous improvement system for educator preparation and student preparedness
