Student Receives Award for Outstanding Mathematics Teaching
James A. Telese, Ph.D. Professor of Mathematics Education, had the honor to accompany one of his students, Mario Aguilar, a math teacher at Olivera Middle School, who received one of four Math Teaching Excellence Awards. Each year, the Texas Regional Collaboratives for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching holds an annual meeting where they award teachers accross the state of which Mr. Aguilar won one of them. Mr. Aguilar is the second consecutive teacher from The University of Texas at Brownsville TRC Math Collaborative to win the award.
