Welcome to the College of Education (COE) Accreditation website at the University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB) where we view accreditation as an important method of quality assurance and continuous improvement. UTB is a Hispanic Serving Institution accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The teacher preparation program is accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Our Community and School Counseling programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Additionally, the UTB Bachelor of Music with Teacher Certification and the Master of Music in Music Education are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM.)

We are currently a candidate for accreditation by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. NCATE is the education profession’s mechanism to help establish high quality teacher preparation programs that foster competent classroom teachers and other educators who work to improve the education of all P-12 students. We are looking forward to Spring 2014 when a team of examiners from NCATE will be visiting our campus.

Teaching, learning and scholarly inquiry for an intercultural world.
