Online students pursuing a degree at UTB/TSC must apply for admission and submit any required forms to the Admissions Office before financial aid may be processed.

Students requesting financial assistance must complete the Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to receive consideration for available grant, loan, work-study and/or scholarship funds.

When applying for financial aid at The University of Texas at Brownsville use the FAFSA application with federal school code 030646.

 

VA PROGRAMS

UTB/TSC is approved by the Texas Workforce Commission for processing of Veterans Administration Educational Benefits through all of the following:  Chapter 30, 31, 32, 35, 1606, Hazlewood Act, and Student Work-Study Allowance Program.  For procedures to follow under these provisions, contact the Office of Veterans Affairs at (956) 882-8980.

SCHOLARSHIPS

All students are strongly encouraged to periodically check the UTB/TSC Scholarshipand Graduate Studies Scholarship web pages regarding availability of scholarships. While the UTB/TSC General Scholarship Application Deadline is typically March 1, additional scholarship opportunities are posted throughout the academic year.

 

GRADUATE TUITION SCHOLARSHIP

The Graduate Tuition Scholarship Award is a 1 course per semester award of tuition for up to 6 courses or 18 semester credit hours of a graduate degree. The Application form is available in the Office of Graduate Studies or online at the Graduate Studies website. Students will be informed of a decision by letter of award from the Financial Aid Office.

This is a non-comptitive award. Students who meet the criteria for the award will receive it, but they must apply each semester.

TEACHER LOAN FORGIVENESS PROGRAM

The Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program is a federal program intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue in the teaching profession. Under this program, individuals who teach full time for five consecutive complete academic years in certain elementary and secondary schools that serve low-income families and meet other qualifications may be eligible for forgiveness of up to a combined total of $17,500 in principal and interest on their FFEL and/or Direct Loan program loans.
