DEGREE OPTIONS

The M.Ed. in Educational Technology is a 36 hour program. Students must complete the 24 hour core courses plus 12 hours of electives. With faculty advisor approval, students can customize their Program of Study to meet their specific needs. We offer the following options:

    Traditional.

    This program of study allows students to select 12 credit hours of electives in a specific content area such as educational technology, reading, mathematics, or science.

    E-Learning Certificate.

    This program of study allows students interested in teaching online in higher education or at e-learning industries to earn an E-Learning Certificate.

    Master Technology Teacher Certificate.

    This program of study offers candidates the opportunity to earn the Master Technology Teacher (MTT) Certification.

    E-Learning/Master Technology Teacher Certificates.

    This programof study allows you to earn the E-Learning and Master Technology Teacher (MTT) Certifications without having to take additional coursework beyond the 36 semester credit hours.

    Thesis.

    This program of study is for students who are interested in research or intend to pursue a doctoral degree in the future.

Master Technology Teacher (MTT) Certification Program

The Master Technology Teacher (MTT) Certificate is a State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) approved certificate. The certification program is designed to offer candidates the opportunity to further their studies and become technology mentors in their schools.

Created by 77th Texas Legislature, MTT certification ensures the availability of teachers with specialized training to work with other teachers and students to increase the use of technology in each classroom. Required courses for completing MTT program certification include (see descriptions above):

E-Learning Certificate Program

The 12-hour E-Learning Certificate Program targets e-learning practitioners seeking a graduate certificate and those who show interest in teaching/learning online initiatives in higher education or at e-learning industries.

The goal of the E-Learning Certificate program is to prepare student candidates to serve as effective online educators by advancing knowledge and skills in electronic learning, both conceptual and practical. With the advanced studies in the graduate program, these candidates are also able to meet changing job requirements in response to current trends in e-learning.
