Child Development Raul J. Guerra Early Childhood
The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, Raul J. Guerra Early Childhood Center is part of the Department of Educational Psychology and Leadership Studies in the College of Education and provides quality care to 70+ children, infants to preschool. The Center serves as a teaching, training and research laboratory for students in the School of Education as well as other departments within the University. University students utilize the laboratories to observe and participate in activities with the children. The program also provides settings for internships and research activities. The Center serves as a model program of early learning and development for university students and the community.

Raul J. Guerra Early Childhood Center Recognized
As a Texas School Ready Site
The Raul J. Guerra Early Childhood Center has been recognized as a "Texas School Ready Site". The Texas Legislature created the School Readiness Certification Program in 2005 to promote high quality early childhood education programs. This project informs parents throughout the state about quality early childhood programs........and we are one of those sites. A letter from Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. notifying the center of this designation was received on October 27, 2008.
