FPGA Pico EX300 & Monte Carlo Project

Overview:

The Pico EX300 and Monte Carlo Project handles simplify solutions in the combination of hardware - accelerated applications in different industry areas. The implementation of the project is made by ImpulseC CoDeveloper IDE application and its tools. The FPGA card handles over 1.2 million programmable logic cells that can be programed by C language and ImpulseC libraries tools.

FPGA Specifications:

  • 1.2 Million FPGA logic cells
  • 1,664 dedicated parallel multipliers
  • 16 Xilinx Spartan XC3S5000 FPGAs
  • PCIe x1 2x4 connector
  • 32bit Bus to each XC3S5000 FPGA from Center FPGA
  • Linux Compatible

Log:

The first step, revised software and hardware is checked. Install the Impulse CoDeveloper and setup the license through Flexlm License Server Manager. The installation of the CoDeveloper and its license must be installed on each machine that will work in the project. The CoDeveloper License is issued through ImpulseC Company. Problem found at Flexlm server, need to open a port, 27000 - 27009, through the server computer to all the other four client computers, which needs an special request from the departments to do so. During the week, waiting for request of opening the port, got back on installing software on client computer. Found out that the PICO EX300 Spartan needed to be installed and power up on main computer in order to install drivers and create the modules. Programs and tools are installed and running, server and client. The FPGA will be installed in the server computer, where the bitstream of the Monte Carlo algorithm will be downloaded and execute.
