Although all students declare majors when applying to UTB, only students who have completed ENGR 2301: Mechanics I: Statics with a grade of “C” of better are admitted to the Engineering Physics program.

The Advising and registration services

As a declared or admitted Engineering Physics major, you will get all your advising needs met within the department.


The standard first semester is the same for all Engineering & Computational Science Department programs.
Calculus I
Introduction to Engineering
General Chemistry I and Laboratory
Composition I
U.S. History to 1877
Precalculus or Calculus II may be substituted for Calculus I.
The Mathematics Department provides a direct path into Calculus I for qualified students.  Go to the Math department LHSB 2.228 (882-6636) and ask about the math placement exam.

Practice problems
Qualifying for direct entry to Precalculus or Calculus requires successful completion of a test and an interview with the Mathematics Department.
All prospective Engineering students are expected to take the test.
