Software and utilities

Not all of the following software is required to use the Blackboard system, but some may be needed to display certain content types (particularly audio, video and pdf files). Here is a list of free audio-video software and more utilities that you can download:  

Internet Browser's:

Internet Explorer 6

Internet Explorer 6 provides a flexible and reliable browsing experience with enhanced Web privacy features for all Windows users. This version includes a full installation of the Web browser and the most recent version of Outlook Express, the e-mail client that is included with Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer 7

Internet Explorer 7 is the most secure version of Internet Explorer to date and now it's easier to install. Download the latest version for free.

Firefox 3.0

Firefox has security, speed and new features that will change the way you use the Web.

Safari 3.1

Experience the web, Apple style, with Safari: the fastest, easiest-to-use web browser in the world. With its simple, elegant interface, Safari gets out of your way and lets you enjoy the web faster than any browser.

Netscape 9

Enhanced newsfeed support and was more integrated with the Netscape.com Internet portal, including enhanced methods of discussion, submission and voting of web pages. However as of Netscape Navigator 9 beta 3, the Netscape.com integration is now optional, and certain aspects of integration can be manually enabled or disabled.

Flock

The award-winning Flock browser has all of the advantages of Firefox, with your favorite friends, photos and videos along for the ride.

Adobe Reader

Adobe Reader allows you to view, save, and print Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files.

Web/Multimedia Player's

Adobe Flash Player


Adobe Flash Player allows you to view content created with Flash such as interactive web applications and animations.

Adobe Shockwave Player

Adobe Shockwave Player allows you to view content created with Macromedia Director such as games and interactive 3D simulations.

Sun Java


Sun Java Runtime Engine (JRE) allows you to use interactive tools on the web.

QuickTime Player

QuickTime Player allows Mac and Windows users to play back audio and video files.

RealPlayer

RealPlayer allows you to view and listen to streaming video and audio.

Windows Media Player


Windows Media Player allows you to view, listen and download streaming video and audio.
