System Requirements

MyUTBTSC Blackboard Portal

If you are taking an online or hybrid course via MyUTBTSC Blackboard, you will definitely need access to a computer with Internet service. All open-area computer labs on campus are available to all students. However, if you are working with your personal computer, there are few technical requirements to be met. These are the basic system configurations required to work with MyUTBTSC Blackboard Portal:

  • Pentium IV or higher
  • 512 MB of RAM or higher
  • 56kbps Modem (DSL or Cable recommended)
  • Internet Explorer 7, or Mozilla Fire Fox
    (Note: If you have Internet Explorer 8 installed 
    please click on the compatibility view button to view it as in IE7).
  • Allow Cookies in Browser
  • Disable Pop-up Blocker in Browser
  • Java Plug-in (www.java.com)

Optional Components

Additional components might be needed based on course requirements.
The following are some components that might be needed.

  • Multimedia capabilities with sound.
  • CD-ROM or DVD-ROM.
  • Webcam
  • Microphone

Pop-ups

Some web pages in Blackboard use JavaScript pop-up message prompts and alerts. Pop-up blocking software installed in your web browser can prevent you from seeing these information unless pop-ups blockers are disabled.
