The Future of Spacetime
Stephen W. Hawking, Kip S. Thorne, Igor Novikov and Alan Lightman, with introduction by Richard H. Price
“The Future of Spacetime” is a compilation of essays by experts in explaining the ideas of science to the general public. These experts gave public outreach talks in June of 2000 to honor Caltech’s Kip Thorne who was known both for his scientific leadership and for his ability to communicate with and to excite nonscientists. The book consists of printed forms of those public outreach talks; it features contributions by Stephen Hawking, Igor Novikov, Timothy Ferris, Alan Lightman and Kip Thorne. Richard Price, who oversaw the project, provides an introduction to Einsteinian space and time, the focus of the essays.
