Continuing Nursing Education
The University of Texas at Brownsville has served the region as a Continuing Nursing Education Provider Unit for over 15 years. The College of Nursing Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Provider Unit aims to “promote and enrich knowledge, improve skills and develop attitudes for the enhancement of nursing practice, thus improving health care to the public” (Texas Board of Nursing, 2009). The CNE Provider Unit conducts assessments to determine the learning needs of registered nurses (RNs) in the region using surveys and the collaborative efforts of RNs, educators, and evidence that supports changes in nursing practice. Quality CNE activities that foster improvement and innovation with nursing practice are offered aimed to meet the CNE needs of RNs in the region. Activities and the overall CNE program are evaluated to continually improve continuing education for RNs in the region.
