Ways To Give

Outright Gifts - Cash, Check, Credit Card, Securities

Outright gifts to UTB may be made by personal check, credit card, or securities. Unrestricted gifts fund our areas of greatest need, and help us balance the annual operating budget. Donors may designate or restrict their gift to a school, specific program or activity. Gifts of securities are sold immediately. Annual gifts may be pledged, and payments made over 12 months.

Planned Gifts - Bequests, Life Insurance, Charitable Remainder Trusts

Donors who wish to make a significant gift to UTB over their lifetime, while limiting estate taxes and providing for their heirs, may choose to make a planned gift. Planned gifts are created now, yet fully realized at a later date.  For more information about planned giving opportunities click here or contact our planned giving specialist at (956) 882-4326, or e-mail at

Endowment Gifts

A gift of an endowment is a lasting gift, which ensures the future of UTB for generations to come. The initial gift is invested and only the income is spent.  Gifts to the endowment may be made by cash, stock, pledge, bequest, retirement assets, life insurance, and life estate gifts. Gifts of any amount are accepted; however, named endowment opportunities begin at $25,000.

Gifts of Real Estate or Personal Property

UTB is open to considering gifts of real estate or personal property on a case-by-case basis. Typically, the University does not accept gifts that may obligate the institution to pay fees or costs associated with the gift.  Gifts of Real Estate or Personal Property are liquidated immediately.

Corporate Matching Gifts

Many corporations have matching gift programs that match or even double employee contributions to nonprofit organizations. The university meets most company eligibility guidelines for matching gifts. Check with your employer for details. Corporate matching gifts are credited to the employee for recognition.

Gifts in Kind

Gifts of personal property — including rare books, works of art, valuable collectibles and tangible items of demonstrable value — in some cases may enable you to make a significant gift to support UTB with outstanding tax benefits to you. Gifts of intangible personal property, such as copyrights, patents and mineral rights, can also generate income for the program of your choice on a continuing basis.
